Welcome to Fantasy Island Inn! I’m Doug Pouncey, the owner, innkeeper, and friendly face you’ll see around the property during your stay.

Fantasy Island Inn is more than just a guest house to me—it’s a place built on connection, comfort, and community. After spending years quietly navigating life like many gay men of my generation, I finally found the courage to step fully into the light. That moment changed everything. It led me to create a space where guests can feel welcomed, seen, and completely at ease.

Running this inn has been one of the greatest joys of my life. I love meeting wonderful people from all over the world, many of whom have become dear friends. Keeping busy, sharing stories, and making sure every guest feels at home—it’s the perfect fit for me.

Beyond hospitality, I’ve always believed in giving back. For several years, I participated in the clinical study that helped bring Descovy for PrEP to FDA approval, and I continue that work today through a new study for the twice-yearly injectable Lenacapavir. Supporting advancements in LGBTQ+ health and wellness is something I’m deeply passionate about.

I’m honored to have been selected as part of OUTSFL Magazine’s Out & Proud Class of 2025—and even more honored to be nominated for Best Innkeeper of 2025. Recognition like this means the world, but what matters most is creating a space where you feel welcomed, safe, and free to be yourself.
